Marathi Diwas 2025
by Ms Bhagyashree, Secondary Marathi Teacher
Marathi Diwas at MIS Secondary School was celebrated with great enthusiasm, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Maharashtra. The week-long celebration engaged students in interactive and collaborative activities that fostered Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills such as research, creative thinking, and communication, while also promoting healthy competition. Throughout the activities, students demonstrated the IB Learner Profile attributes of inquirers, researchers, and communicators as they explored various aspects of Maharashtra’s traditions.

Meanwhile, MYP 3 and 4 students explored the diverse landforms of Maharashtra, showcasing their findings through well-structured and creative chart displays.

La Journée de la Francophonie
by Ms Shalaka and Ms Lila, French Language Acquisition Teachers

La Journée de la Francophonie was celebrated with great verve and enthusiasm on Thursday, 20th March at MIS. Working in small groups or individually according to their choice, over 45 learners of MYP French Language Acquisition (FLA) and French World Literature presented an array of engaging topics. These included the history of Francophonie Day, its significance, the theme for 2025, the diversity of francophone countries around the world, their unique cuisines, rich cultures, sustainability slogans, and the importance of education.
The foyer was a veritable hub of international-mindedness and activity, with the rest of the MYP students and staff visiting the 21 stalls and eagerly asking pertinent questions, tasting some of the delectable cakes, testing their knowledge of Francophonie through interactive games, and enjoying a visa-free Virtual Reality tour of Paris, Nice, Morocco, Vietnam, a walking tour along the Seine, and visiting museums like Versailles.
Our FLA learners showed their agility and adaptability by managing their formative and summative assessments while preparing for this event. Their dedication ensured that they not only offered a meaningful and enlightening experience to their peers but also gained valuable insights from this exciting endeavor.
A special thanks to Mr. Gregory Motteron and Ms. Meghali Randive, who judged the event and contributed to its success.
