The DP1 language acquisition students of English B, French B, and German B embarked on an enriching field trip titled Discover Pune. This experience aimed to provide students with a unique opportunity to explore and immerse themselves in the cultural and linguistic facets of Pune while connecting their learning to real-world contexts.

The English B students had the privilege of meeting a renowned local author, Ms. Manjiri Prabhu, offering a chance to delve into the craft of storytelling and understand the cultural nuances embedded in literature. This interaction inspired students to reflect on how stories transcend boundaries, connecting people through universal themes and emotions.

Meanwhile, the French B students visited the Alliance Française de Pune, a hub for French language and culture. They engaged in a thought-provoking discussion about la francophonie, exploring how French culture influences young people not only in France but across the world. The students gained insights into the shared experiences of francophone countries and how language serves as a bridge to understanding diverse perspectives.

The German B students had the rare opportunity to interview Prof. Dr. Neeti Badwe, former HOD of the Department of Foreign Languages at the University of Pune. This insightful interaction gave them a deeper understanding of the nuances of German language studies and its cultural significance, as well as an appreciation of linguistic connections between Germany and India.

Adding a vibrant cultural layer to the trip, all students visited the Zapurza Cultural Centre. Here, they immersed themselves in India’s artistic heritage, exploring galleries of traditional and contemporary art, intricate textiles, and captivating artefacts. The centre’s dynamic mix of history and creativity served as a perfect backdrop for students to reflect on how culture and art shape identities and global understanding.

‘Discover Pune’ was more than a field trip—it was an experience that bridged languages, cultures, and histories, leaving students inspired and enriched.
