UN Peace Day

On the 21st of September, 2022, MYP 1, 2 and 3 commemorated the UN Day of Peace within school. The theme for this year’s The International Peace Day was, “End Racism. Build Peace.”

The assembly was inaugurated with a laconic summary of The International UN Day of Peace, and why this year’s memorialization of this day is exclusively indispensable.

Subsequent to the brief explanations regarding Peace Day, a concise video was played where António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations talks about this year’s theme. He talks about the impacts of racism on mankind and how instead of fighting one another, humanity should unite in order to repair our fractured world by working towards defeating poverty, racism, inequality, and other such worldly issues.

Following this, MYP 3 led a meditation, called square breathing, which assists one in controlling their emotions and being a balanced and amicable person overall.

Concluding the assembly, MYP 3 shared the emphasis on being a peaceful person. They urged one to “say what peace means to you”, “do something that demonstrates your commitment to peace”, and “share with others”.

The aforementioned statements marked the end of the UN Peace Day assembly.
