Last week, our learners delved deeper into our unit, Who We Are, focusing on the line of inquiry; Promoting Diversity and making connections to our mission (Celebrating diversity). As part of this exploration, the children participated in a highly engaging and meaningful Suitcase Project. Each learner was encouraged to bring items representing a family celebration they observe annually. These “suitcases” were filled with special artifacts like photographs, drawings, decorations, traditional attire, and other personal mementos.

The excitement in the classroom could not be contained as students took turns sharing their stories, explaining the significance of their chosen celebrations. It was wonderful to see how they embraced the opportunity to express their cultural traditions with such enthusiasm. Not only did they proudly showcase their family traditions, but they also demonstrated key attributes of being principled and respectful by listening attentively to their peers. Learners asked thoughtful questions, fostering a deeper understanding of the diverse cultures within our classroom community.

We are so proud of our learners for their active involvement and genuine curiosity. Thank you for your continued support in nurturing a sense of belonging and community in our classroom!
