MYP5 experiential learning trip – a reflection from a Homeroom teacher

This year’s MYP 5 field trip took us to Karjat. After a three-hour drive we arrived at Rivergate Resort where we checked in to our luxurious tents. In order to get to know each other we did some icebreaker activities before doing a River Study in the stream next to our compound.

On the next day we had an early breakfast so that we could go on an hour hike to Kondane Caves. It was hot but luckily the way lead us through a forest area with a lot of shade. The Buddhist temple and the spectacular views compensated us for our efforts.

All students loved the Football tournament at the end of the day for which reason we had to repeat this activity on the following day. On Wednesday the students did some educative nature games that gave rise to the impact of the laws of nature. Due to the extensive heat we continued with indoor activities where students also prepared their presentations for the villagers on water purification. Despite the successful encounter with the locals, we all were surprised how much they already knew about this process.

We returned to our hotel in order to have a quick lunch and started our way back to Pune where we arrived shortly before the school buses departed to take us home.
