From The PYP Art Room

pyp-artsUpcycling is the process of transforming waste materials, useless, or unwanted products into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value.

Pre School 3’s  Ravan effigy is made  using scrap materials from the art room and a set of old clothes. They stuffed the old T Shirt and jeans with old newspaper and made the heads using papier mache. Scraps of waste paper were cut and glued to decorate the crowns and  Ravan’s rich “ gem studded” clothes. The school gardeners helped us by putting together the framework.

artsPYP 4 retrieved the KOMODO DRAGON from the scrap heap as it was being discarded. It was originally made by a PYP 5 class –the students of which graduated from the DP 2 years ago! They used papier mache to fix all the damage and worked together to plan and paint the creature restoring it and giving it new life!

The students worked in groups sharing ideas and learning new skills.
