Secondary Winter Recital

This academic year’s Secondary Winter Recital was held on Friday 14th December on the primary courtyard, which was covered with exquisite fairy lights. The event featured individual MBIS students. The musical pieces performed celebrated love, passion towards their talent.

The pieces ranged from Emma and Umayra singing “Hallelujah” a well-known Canadian folk rock sung originally by Cohen Leonard to Dove Cameron’s version of “White Christmas” sung by Anushka. Lea, Uma, Emma, Jaeyun enhanced the Christmas vibe by singing a Christmas theme song named “Santa tell me” and of course, a spellbinding dance performance on “Samjhawan” by Meghan added a contemporary touch to the evening.

In addition, the DP2 students put forth fascinating performances, which comprised of Hendrik’s incredible trumpet skills, the challenging piece “Makedonske Devojce” was bravely attempted by Hendrik as the piece was enclosed in odd time signature. Uday followed with his stunning guitar skills playing the Theme from “The Search for Everything”- John Mayer, arrangement by Dax Andreas and “Always With Me, Always With You” by Joe Satriani. Lastly, The DP2 performances ended with Parth’s prodigious drum skills on Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” accompanied by Uday (lead guitar), Myola (bass guitar), Sophia (vocals). It was wonderful to see our students unite and accompany each other in their performances.

The students of MYP3 sang an absolutely beautiful 4-part a cappella version of “Silent Night”. The program continued, featuring the members of the CCA – Musical Theatre performing “I’ve Never Been in Love Before” and “Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat”. The recital concluded with the Christmas Choir chanting “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” followed by a sing along  “O Come All Ye Faithful” which complemented the season.

The aspiration behind putting forth an evening recital is to acknowledge our talented students and providing them the opportunity to be a preeminent performer. MBIS would like to thank our parents in supporting our students in doing what they love.
