Primary School Sports Days

For students in primary school, sports day is one of the highlights of their school year. Students look forward to taking part in the different activities and demonstrating their individual skills and teamwork in their house teams. It is also an opportunity to play and just have fun!

Primary School had two sports days, one for P2–P5 students, and one for EY–P1. The P2 – P5 sports day had different events, such as the 600m run, 35m dash, giant football dribbling, basketball shooting, and more, which tested their all-round abilities. The EY–P1 had almost similar events, but with modified versions of each game to allow them to achieve success in each of the activities.

When planning a sports day, teachers think of activities that are simple and exciting, yet challenging for all students. But most important of all, students have the opportunity to demonstrate the IB learner profile attributes such as being thinkers through the application of knowledge and motor skills learned in PE lessons, being open-minded when participating in different teams, being effective communicators when speaking and listening to the opinions and ideas of others, and being risk-takers by taking part in the activities in front of other students and parents.

For the year ahead, the PHE department has several events planned for primary school students, which include a lunchtime football tournament, a badminton tournament, a basketball tournament, and the annual swim gala. We will surely keep parents up to date with developments.
